Sci-Fi - Young Scott

"This little Sci-Fi prompt hardly seems worth a whole blog post, but I really liked how it turned out." -Casey

“Maybe a little,” the small human boy answered with a far off look in his eyes. “Why aren’t there any other humans here?”
Edrev felt his ears twitch with his nerves and hoped that Scott couldn’t read his “tell.” The military base was a training ground for the Tonkit army recruits. The strict alien race didn’t appreciate the weakness of the human race polluting the ideals of the recruits.
“They like to do things their own way, just like the Tonkit, but their ways don’t always work together,” the man said at last. Scott nodded as if that settled everything in his mind.
“So, maybe one day I’ll join the Tonkit army and then I can help them work together.”
“Oh, there’s no need for that,” Edrev scoffed. “A nice boy like you doesn’t need to become a soldier.”
