Loki Laufeyson - Mortals

"This hasn't amounted to much yet, but I figured I'd post it anyway. Thor: The Dark World is coming out tomorrow, so that's a valid excuse for putting this up, right?
So again, young Loki and this time he's showing up on Midgard to the very warmest of welcomes!" -Casey

Loki couldn’t tell if he was falling or being shot up through the cosmos, but the force the portal was incredible either way. There was no escaping its pull, no turning back.
He didn’t even remember hitting the ground, but he must have hit hard because his entire body rebelled when he tried to stand up. A hot shot of pain from his head to his feet kept him lying face down in the dirt. He took a deep breath and then pushed himself onto his knees, causing the world to spin around him. Nothing was broken, but he had defiantly hit his head when he landed.
His vision slowly cleared and he began to make out his surroundings. He was on the rocky shores of a black lake that shimmered with starlight. All around him were enormous rolling hills just visible in the light of the small and distant full moon.
His head was clearing up so he got to his feet, cursing under his breath at the pain this action caused. He could now see that he had in fact created a sizable crater when he landed. It occurred to him now that the impact must have made quite a noise and that he might not be alone in the darkness.
Dimma,” he whispered to the shadows, cloaking himself so that he was nearly invisible. Sure enough, there was the faintest sound of a gasp from behind him. Loki smiled briefly at the sound, realizing that any creature here was merely a mortal that hadn’t seen anything like magic in centuries. He must have seemed a phantom to them.
“What in Thor’s name just happened?” the voice hissed.
“Hush!” demanded yet another voice.
Loki turned to stare indignantly towards these midgardians. Whether he was offended by the dishonor of a mortal swearing in the name of an Asgardina or by the use of his brother’s name rather than his own, he didn’t get the chance to sort out. An arrow flew past his ear with a loud whistle, causing his to leap back noisily on the uneven ground. Another arrow sailed by his shoulder coming from the same direction as the voices.
